Tree Pipit

Arrives in April in areas of woodland where there is sparse ground vegetation, as this bird feeds mainly on the woodland floor. With the bird's acrobatic aerial display the woodland trees cannot be too dense. The male launches himself into the air returning to the same perch in a parachute fashion. It is not too exciting to look at due to it's brown plumage, but it's acrobatic flight more than makes up for it's dull appearance. There are approximately 60 pairs can be found breeding on the reserve. This species tends to like areas of clearfell throughout the forestry as this gives it plenty of room for display.
